Heather and the Marlin Model 60

Heather and the Marlin Model 60

So I’ve wanted my GF to come shoot with me for as long as I’ve known her and yesterday she finally came.

The video shows her shooting my Charles Daly 1911 in .45 ACP. As you can tell she is a very inexperianced shooter but I think she did pretty well.

All together she shot 2 very different Marlin Model 60s, “Tisha” my AR15, and the 1911.

I’m looking forward to much more shooting with my GF this summer.

In case your wondering the AR15 you see in the background is Tisha. I have finally gotten around to completely break in the barrel and will be sighting in the next time I go shooting.

I have gathered enough data to do an actual review of the handguard, the stock and the bipod. Look for it in the next couple weeks. Followed soon after by a review of the barrel, scope, and green dot sight

A call from a friend…

March 8, 2011

So I just get back from a gunshow in Las Vegas and I get a call from a friend of mine who lives in Minneapolis. He told me that he was remodeling his basement in is new house and while tearing out the old ceiling he found a “45 revolver”.

I start to get kind of excited. Whats better than a free gun with a new house.

He tells me that it looks like its loaded but he can’t figure out how to open the cylinder. I tell him about the usual places and try and walk him through it but still nothing.

Now I’m very intrigued so I ask what markings are on it so I can look it up.  He gives me:

“HAHN 45 BB”

Nothing I had ever heard of before so I start with a quick google search and viola!

Crossman HAHN \”45\” BB

Turns out its a CO2 BB pistol.

Pretty realistic looking BB gun if you ask me. Not quite the treasure we had hoped for though.

Still, a free BB gun beats a kick in the pants I guess.

A friend of mine taught me this and I figured I would share it with you. I have done this to my 1911 grips and let me tell you it completely changes the feel of the grip in your hand.

The rest of the gun needs work still but all in good time.

A closer view.

The grips shown are from Mako and have an extended magwell.

Also it is a good way to turn cheap plastic grips into custom textured grips.

Here is a quick tutorial:

It isnt very hard to do but keep in mind that if you aren’t comfortable taking a soldering iron to your Glock, it might be best to take it to a professional. This is something that can’t be undone.

EDIT: For some reason, UMG will not allow this video to be played as an embedded video. It will play for you on YouTube after the jump. (I think because it has a Guns ‘n Roses song in it.)

Beautiful craftmanship on this pistol. This picture does not do it justice.

This pistol is definitely unique. It has handcrafted grips so subtle you can hardly see them but holding it, it seems to melt into your grip. With a textured frame and slide serrations working the action is smooth as butter. I couldn’t try out the trigger but the owner tells me it breaks like glass. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it many times more but they just dont make them like they used to anymore. As before if you contact me I can put you in touch with the owner if your interested.

HK MP-5K “Breifcase Gun”

February 6, 2011

Too cool.

Saw this walking the tables. This is the a real deal, registered NFA, MP-5K. It will fire from  inside the breifcase by way of a transfer bar that goes from the trigger to a second trigger in the carry handle. Very cool. He isn’t advertising that its for sale but told me he would let it go at the low price of $19,000 with the briefcase and $18,000 without. Contact me if interested and I can put you in touch with him. All NFA rules would apply.

There will be a day when my gun room looks like this. Someday….

Unnamed high capacity revolver.

I dont know anything about this gun but it caught my eye. Unfortunately the owner wasnt around to ask questions. If anybody knows more about this gun let me know and I will update this post.
